Chiswick and Bedford Park — garden-suburb craft under an Article 4 microscope.

Hounslow's building map is really Chiswick's: Bedford Park — London's first garden suburb — under a strict Article 4 direction, the Glebe Estate and Turnham Green terraces carrying the classic extension work, and Grove Park adding riverside consents and flood conditions. Underneath it sits a pragmatic council with clear, published expectations.We design to Hounslow's planning requirements from the first sketch — particularly in Bedford Park, where alterations that are permitted development elsewhere need consent, and the residents' association reads every application with real knowledge.

Bedford Park: designing inside the code

The suburb was designed to be looked at, and 150 years later it still is. Matching materials, honest rooflines, interiors free where it counts — the discipline is real, and the results age better than anything that fights it.

Rear extensions off Turnham Green

Chiswick plots are often a little deeper than Fulham's, which gives rear extensions room to breathe. The party wall and drainage discipline is the same, and the kitchen diners are fitted by our in-house team at the end of the programme.

Grove Park and the riverside

Flood-risk assessments, drainage conditions and TPOs on most consents near the towpath — routine for us, designed in early rather than discovered late.
